1. Listen to the sound: If you hear a creaking or clicking sound when braking while driving, it is usually a signal of a problem with the brake drum. You need to check if there are foreign objects (such as sand, gravel, etc.) blocking the tires and brakes or if the brake shoes are loose, and handle them in a timely manner.
2. Observe the brake drum: You can determine whether it needs to be replaced by checking its appearance. If the brake drum has cracks, rust, or uneven appearance, it usually indicates that it needs to be replaced. When checking the brake drum, please note that the cooling blades of the brake drum should be clean and free from debris and black scale.
3. Measure the brake drum: You can use the brake caliper tool to measure the inner diameter and minimum thickness of the brake drum. If the measurement results are less than the minimum thickness recommended by the manufacturer, the brake drum needs to be replaced.
